Saturate a New Building with Prayer

A church in Florida was in the midst of building a larger church. Before the painting and carpeting final stages, the church leaders and staff went to the areas of the church where their primary responsibility would be located. Children’s leaders went to the children’s area; student leaders gathered in the new youth room. Staff members stepped into their new offices. Everyone spent time praying over their spaces.

Next, they took pencils or sharpies and wrote Scriptures on the floors and walls—any place that would eventually be covered by carpet or paint. Thought was given beforehand to Scripture passages that were personally meaningful or could be used as prayers of blessing or declaration over the ministries.

Afterwards, everyone regrouped to prayerwalk the entire building indoors, praying Scriptures, worshiping, and adding written Scriptures in the common gathering places. They asked the Lord for His guidance, wisdom, and blessing.

Then they prayerwalked the outside of the building, asking God to draw lost people to the church, praying for the various community and worldwide outreaches of the church, and planting tent pegs with Scriptures written on them at the corners of the property.

It was such a powerful experience with staff and ministry leaders that they invited the entire congregation to join them once again to prayerwalk inside and outside the building and property.

What a great way to pray into the future of your ministry!
