“If there were ever a day that the Church globally needs to unite to cry out to God in prayer and seek His face, it is today,” says Darrell Webb, interim executive director, Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) Prayer Link. “21 Days of Prayer in 2024 is an amazing opportunity for pastors and churches globally to unite our hearts to be a house of prayer for all nations, so that lives will be transformed for His glory.”
Early this year, out of deep concern for the need for revival and a belief in the power of prayer, several pastors and church leaders decided to start 2024 with 21 days of united prayer. As they began to invite their friends to join, they soon realized that this was going to be a global event—and the Global 21 Days of Prayer Event was launched.
Using the book The 21 Most Effective Prayers in the Bible by Dr. David Earley (one of the founders of event), the Global 21 Days of Prayer Event will include daily emails, short encouraging videos, and online prayer meetings streamed from prayer gatherings all around the globe. Pastors are encouraged to preach on prayer each Sunday during the event. Resources are available to help them do so.
The goal of the event is to help pastors and churches develop a culture of prayer within their churches that moves believers to express their dependency on God, increase their faith, and impact their families. Event leaders want believers and churches to join in “hammering the throne of heaven” for renewal, restoration, and revival.
“We want to see more people in more churches praying more effectively and with others more often than ever before,” says Earley.
Prayer Connect magazine and the Church Prayer Leaders Network are partnering with Earley and the Global 21 Days of Prayer Event both in promoting the event and by publishing The 21 Most Effective Prayers in the Bible through its publishing ministry PrayerShop Publishing.
