About Us
What Is the Church Prayer Leaders Network
You may be wondering just who are we? The Church Prayer Leaders Network is exactly what its name implies. We exist to help individuals (pastors and lay people) who are working to raise up more prayer in their churches. We want to encourage, challenge, inspire, and resource you as you seek to motivate and mobilize your church toward deeper levels of prayer. To join, there is an annual membership. Click here for membership information.
Our publishing ministry–PrayerShop Publishing–publishes 4-5 books each year, and develops prayer guides and content to help individuals and church pray more effectively. We also produce Prayer Connect magazine, a full-color quarterly periodical entirely on prayer.
Vision: To equip every church in every city to become an effective, joyful “house of prayer for all nations” (Isaiah 56:7).
Mission: To serve the local church prayer leader (pastor or designate), empowering him or her to initiate, strengthen, and expand the prayer life of that congregation to the glory of Jesus Christ.
Strategy: To provide a strategic network that empowers local church prayer leaders to fulfill their calling.
History: The CPLN began in 1999 as the National Association of Local Church Prayer Leaders. In 2003 it came under and was subsidized as a ministry of Pray! magazine, a bimonthly publication of NavPress and The Navigators. Pray! has always had a heart for seeing prayer become more foundational to local church ministry. In June 2004, when Pray!’s founding editor, Jonathan Graf, left to pursue his prayer ministry into local churches, Pray! gave the CPLN to him. He brought both his speaking ministry and CPLN under the 501c3 umbrella of Harvest Prayer Ministries.
As of May 1, 2019 our ministry has become independent so we can better serve our niche audience.
The CPLN focuses solely on resourcing the prayer leaders in congregational ministry. Doctrinally, we adhere to the Lausanne Covenant.
