Fall is upon. I bet many of you are contemplating the new year and what
prayer events, milestones, steps, etc., you will be initiating next

Seven Habits of Highly Effective Pray-ers (Habit #4) |
|
|
|
|
By Dennis Conner
As a sports enthusiast for many years, it has always been easy to see
the clear advantage of the athletes who have the appropriate attire and
the proper equipment for the sport in which they are competing. In the
sport of Olympic swimming, last summer we saw male competitors in new
styles of swimwear that cover most of the body instead of the bikini
trunks the men used to wear. In the game of golf, the new equipment has
enabled many of the male professional tour players to average well-over
300 yards in their driving from the tee-box. Thus, it is obvious that
many world-record performances can be attributed--in some measure--to
the progressive development of enhancing sports attire and equipment!

As people who want to grow in our prayer lives, certainly the most
important role model for us to emulate is Jesus. While books have been

Pastors Coming Out of the Prayer Closet |
|
|
|
By Daniel Henderson
Recently I conducted a Renewal Weekend at a large mid-western church.
The pastor is an educated, articulate leader known for his preaching
acumen. He even writes books to help preachers create effective
sermons.
After the final service of the weekend (a Sunday evening worship-based
prayer experience) he stood before his church with tears and offered
two observations. First, he stated that he had not experienced the
presence of God in such a powerful way since his early days in ministry
where revival broke out in the church where he served on staff. Indeed,
it was a powerful evening of worship and heart-felt prayer.

The Prayer Leader's Library |

Over the past decade, I have watched the genre of books available for
prayer leaders expand from a few to dozens and dozens. There are so
many resources available today for prayer leaders that the question
becomes: Which ones do I purchase first?
