“Prayer is so much evident in this church!” I had heard this
before—an unscripted observation on our church—but this time it came from someone
new to our fellowship. Her response brought a smile to my face as I inwardly
expressed gratitude to God for what He was doing for His glory. But her
observation wasn’t always true of us.
I am often amazed at what God begins to do when a church starts taking prayer seriously. I’m not talking about upping the efforts to pray the prayer needs of its congregation, but when a church starts seeking God for greater Kingdom works and power to be displayed in their midst and in their communities.
As you begin to focus prayer on a more “Your
Kingdom Come” agenda, you may need some ideas on things to pray. Here are ten
prayer points—based on John 17—that
can be a guide.
If you desire to become a community minded church there are
a number of things on which you will want to focus prayer. Use these either in
a specific prayer group that you set aside to focus on this theme, or rotate
these themes in a Sunday morning worship service prayer time.
